Virgin Voyages: Why I'd Sail Again Without Hesitation
I sailed solo on Virgin Voyages, and it's one of the better travel decisions I've made. The cruise line is adults only and you feel that from the moment you board. It's not stuffy or overly formal, but it's also not chaotic.
The ship design is sleek and modern without feeling cold. The staterooms are well designed, the spa is impressive if that's your thing, and the overall aesthetic feels intentional rather than generic. The vibe is energetic and social in a way that works especially well when you're traveling alone.
The atmosphere is genuinely different from traditional cruising. Virgin Voyages leans into inclusivity in a way that feels real rather than performative. No dress codes, no assigned seating, and no rigid schedules dictating your day. It attracts a diverse crowd and the energy on board reflects that. I never felt out of place as a solo traveler, and I never felt like I had to try hard to find my people.
There are multiple restaurant options on board, all curated by world class chefs, and the quality is consistently good across all of them. It’s not typical cruise food, I appreciated being able to eat where I wanted, when I wanted, without having to plan around a dining reservation schedule.
The entertainment was super engaging. There were live performances, DJ sets, and nightly themed parties. It's well-produced and there's enough variety that you can pick what fits your mood on any given day. The outdoor deck also transforms into a full entertainment space in the evenings, which is a great touch.
Virgin Voyages isn't for everyone. If you're looking for a traditional cruise experience with a more classic feel, this probably isn't it. But if you want something that feels current, well thought out, and genuinely fun, it delivers. I'd definitely sail again.
